Pogba: France no longer world's best – MARCA.com
Poor performance against Ukraine
France’s disappointing showing at Euro 2020 has continued in their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign, with shock 1-1 draws with Bosnia and Ukraine in just four days, causing Paul Pogba to speak out about Les Bleus predicament.
The Manchester United midfielder, a key figure in the squad which won the 2018 World Cup in Russia, believes France are no longer the best national team on the planet.
“It has been a long time since I won a match with the France [national] team. I miss it, we all miss it,” he said after the Ukraine match.
“We are no longer the best team in the world.
“We have to change everything and be more aggressive. We have to sweat on the shirt more and put more desire in it, that’s all.”
France captain Hugo Lloris also spoke about their current rut.
“The euphoria of Russia [2018 World Cup] is over,” Lloris said after the draw with Ukraine.
“There have been many changes on the playing level, but it is up to all of us to raise the level of play,” the skipper added.
